The Lakewood Recycling Center is generously provided by a grant from our partners at WLSSD and is located adjacent to the Town Hall: 3110 Strand Road.
Wednesday 3:00 - 9:00 PM Beginning October 1, 2021 Wednesday 1:00 - 7:00 PM
Saturday 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM
Closed on Federal Holidays & during inclement weather, -20 degrees below zero with wind chill factor; anytime the schools are closed.
Please DO NOT leave recycled materials if the center is closed. This will be considered a dumping violation.

Accepted Materials

Mixed Paper & Cardboard (Separated)
- Paper of any color
- Press board boxes
- Junk mail
- Magazines
- Newspapers and advertisements
- Shredded paper (must be contained in a paper bag)
Cardboard (Separate bin)
- Cardboard with wavy layer between two pieces of thick paper
- Has to be flattened
- No waxed cardboard
Aluminium Cans
- Cans should be rinsed and secured in a plastic garbage bag
Mixed Containers
- Rinse all food containers
- Plastic bottles, tubs, jugs, jars, and lids
- Glass bottles and jars
- Steel cans
- No film or foam including Styrofoam and plastic bags
- No plastic cups, plates, or utensils
- No buckets
- No motor oil or antifreeze containers
- No take-out, deli, or clamshell containers
- No window glass, ceramics, or drinking glasses
- No scrap metal
Film Plastics
- Film must be clean and dry
- Grocery and retail bags
- Newspaper bags
- Bread bags
- Produce bags
- Paper product packaging wrap
- Pallet and case wrap
- No black plastic bags
